Nebraska defensive coordinator Mark Banker says the size of the Minnesota offense is a concern for the Huskers as they prepare for Saturday’s game in the Twin Cities.
The Husker defense ranks third in the Big Ten against the run at just over 95 yards per game but Banker says they need to be ready for the physical challenge the Gopher offense will provide.
“I believe their offensive line, tight end, running back combination is by far the best we have seen”, said Banker. “They present a whole other set a challenges but the physicality of their players is really what’s impressive.”
Minnesota is a run first offense but Banker expects the Gophers to try and take advantage of a Husker pass defense that ranks last in the Big Ten.
Minnesota quarterback Mitch Leidner says the Gophers need a good effort from the offensive line.
“They are good up front defensively”, said Leidner. “It is going to be up to the offensive line. They are are going to have to play well and they are going to have to be physical against those big guys that Nebraska has up front.”
