Two Lincoln men died in that fatal plane crash this weekend in southeastern Nebraska.
Both 68-year-old Jerry Allder, the pilot, and his passenger, 52-year-old Dave Schneider, are described as experienced pilots.
Gage County Attorney Roger Harris released the identities of the victims today.
The single engine airplane seemed to have dropped straight down, crashing into a harvested soybean field southwest of Cortland, in Gage County, just before 9 o’clock Saturday morning.
A brother of Allder, who farms in the area, witnessed the crash, stating it seemed the aircraft went straight down at a sharp angle. The crash created only a small debris pattern.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board. An investigator from the FAA arrived on scene at about midday Saturday, to examine the wreckage.
