Nebraska defensive coordinator Mark Banker expects Northwestern to try and reestablish the run game when the teams meet in Memorial Stadium on Saturday. The Wildcats average 190 yards of rushing but managed only 89 yards in losses to Michigan and Iowa.
Sophomore Justin Jackson leads Northwestern in rushing with 691 yards and forms an inside-outside duo with fellow sophomore Solomon Vault.
“They have got their own qualities”, said Banker. “Justin is a little more of their inside guy and then Vault comes in and is definitely an outside guy. They have been a pretty good one-two combination for them this season”
Run defense has also been a strength for Nebraska. The Huskers are giving up only 91 yards on the ground per game.
