Rescuers had to cut a hole in the cab of his truck to save a truck driver from drowning after his truck ran off Interstate 80 and into a pond in western Nebraska.
Nebraska State Patrol troopers as well as firefighters raced to the scene early Thursday evening about two miles west of the Maxwell exit on I-80.
NSP reports the truck cab had nearly gone underwater by the time emergency crews arrived. Rescuers reached the truck by boat, then used a Jaws of Life to cut a hole in the cab to get to the driver who was trapped inside the cab.
The driver is being treated at North Platte hospital.
