It was not the start Mike Riley envisioned when he was named the head coach at Nebraska last December but it has not dampened his enthusiasm for the job.
The Huskers are 3-5 on the season as the prepare for this week’s visit to Purdue and must win three of their last four games just to become eligible for a bowl.
“We are really disappointed in what has gone on in the win-loss column but that does not deter anything about how we feel about this place”, said Riley. “It is everything as advertised and we have just got to work hard from our end to make this football product better.”
Riley does not mind the scrutiny the comes with coaching at a high profile program and says his focus is on putting the Huskers in a better position to win close games. Nebraska’s five losses are by a combined 13 points
