Nebraska quarterback Tommy Armstrong won’t play on Saturday when the Huskers visit Purdue in Big Ten play. Armstrong sat out practice this week with what was called a turf toe injury and coach Mike Riley says it did not heal enough to give the junior a chance to play.
“Not really close and as a matter of fact it sounds like between Wednesday and Thursday it took a little turn for the worse”, said Riley. “I don’t think that means long term necessarily but we can’t risk him making it worse.”
With Armstrong out Ryker Fyfe will get his first start against the Boilermakers. The junior from Grand Island has appeared in eight games during his Husker career.
