Driver likely drunk and high faces charges in fatal motorcycle accident

November 2, 2015 By Brent Martin

Police car lightsA motorist driving too fast and likely under the influence of both drugs and alcohol lost control of his car, wandered into the wrong lane, running into a motorcycle, killing the cyclist.

Omaha police report says 18-year-old Fredy Reyes-Garcia of Omaha was taken to Nebraska Medicine where he was pronounced dead.

According to the police report, a car driven by 27-year-old Langston Perkins of Omaha was traveling south on 24th Street, faster than the posted 35 mph speed limit. Perkins lost control of the car. It entered the northbound lane and hit the motorcycle.

Police say both Perkins and his passenger, 29-year-old Michelle Plascencia of Omaha fled on foot. Witnesses attempted to get them to remain at the scene, but say Perkins threatened them.

Omaha police became aware Perkins and Plascencia were also being treated at Nebraska Medicine for injuries received in the crash. Plascencia has been charged with accessory to a felony. Perkins faces charges as well. Police says he is believed to have been under the influence of both alcohol and narcotics. Perkins has provided police with blood and urine samples. Perkins has been released from the hospital and charged with Felony Motor Vehicle Homicide.
