Royals fans jammed the streets of Kansas City on Tuesday to celebrate the team’s first World Series title since 1985. The Royals polished off the New York Mets in five games on Sunday night with a 7-2 victory in 12 innings.
Outfielder and former Husker standout Alex Gordon was interviewed on Fox Sports’ coverage of the festivities.
“It is pretty amazing the whole ride the last couple of years and finally getting to this point”, said Gordon. “This is what you play and this is what you practice for all year long and to finally get it and achieve it with the group of guys we have on this team I couldn’t ask for anything better.”
City officials estimated that more than 500,000 people attended the events.
