Twelve Huskers scored in the team’s lone exhibition game of the season. Nebraska beat Northern State 95 – 42 in front of more than 15,000 fans at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Coach Tim Miles says he noticed some nerves among a few of the new Huskers. “We had some guys with jitters,” Miles said. “Glynn Watson had some nervousness out there, Michael Jacobson about the same. I think as we go those guys will season up and we’ll be OK.” But Miles also had praise for newcomer Ed Morrow, who finished with eight points and ten rebounds in his Husker debut.
Nebraska shot well from the floor, connecting on 52 percent of field goal attempts, but the story of the night may be the balance in scoring among the three Huskers expected to play critical roles this season.
Andrew White, who transferred from Kansas to Nebraska, led the scoring with 18 points. Returners Shavon Shields and Tai Webster each posted 14 points in the win.
Nebraska starts the regular season Saturday at Pinnacle Bank Arena against Mississippi Valley State.
