The Saline County Sheriff’s Office identified the victims as 21-year-old Nestor Godoy and 42-year-old Kevin Schroeder, both of Wilber.
The sheriff’s office said in a news release that the crash happened at around 5:45 AM, along Nebraska Highway 103.
A 2000 Mercury Villager Van driven by Schroeder was northbound when a southbound 1994 Nissan Altima driven by Godoy, crossed the centerline and collided head-on with the van.
Schroeder was pronounced dead at the scene. Godoy was taken to a Lincoln hospital, where he died of injuries. Saline and Nebraska State Patrol officers are still investigating whether seatbelts were in use.
Saline County law officers, Wilber and Crete Police and Wilber Fire and Rescue were all sent to the scene.
