An Omaha woman made quite a find today while cleaning out a duplex near 128th and Burt Streets. Katie Wray owns Moving On, a company that helps senior citizens prepare for estate sales and helps them transition to other facilities. She was sorting through items inside a duplex and says she found the unexpected.
Wray says, “I was working downstairs and going through a box when all of a sudden I pulled out a grenade. I knew it was a grenade. I didn’t know if it was real or not so I put it up on a shelf and called 911.”
Wray says when Omaha police arrived they sent for the Bomb Squad who determined it was a World War II era grenade and it was live. They properly disposed of it.
Wray says she has been in the estate sale business for about three years and this is the first time she has found a grenade and says she hopes she never does again. The duplex belonged to a veteran who recently passed away.
