A southeastern Nebraska high school senior has been killed in a fiery two-vehicle wreck.
Lancaster County Chief Deputy Sheriff Jeff Bliemeister says 18-year-old Dakota Tyson of Syracuse died after her Hummer H2 rammed into the rear of a fully loaded grain truck early Thursday evening on Highway Two.
The 60-year-old driver of the grain truck was taken to a Lincoln hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Bliemeister says the investigation into why Tyson ran into the grain truck remains under investigation.
“The collision caused the Hummer to lodge underneath the rear of the grain truck and to catch fire,” Bliemeister tells reporters. “Shortly after the collision, the Hummer was fully engulfed in flames.”
The wreck closed a portion of Highway Two for hours.
Tyson was a senior at Syracuse High School. Authorities notified school officials last night about the death.
