Shaky End To First Half After Huskers Build Big Lead

November 14, 2015 By Kevin Thomas

Nebraska jumped out to a 21-0 lead over Rutgers in the first quarter and a half of today’s game.  The half ended with a few problems for the Huskers though.

Nebraska’s first score came on a 32 yard touchdown run by tight end Cethan Carter.  They added to the lead with a 15 yard touchdown pass from Tommy Armstrong to Jordan Westerkamp later in the first quarter.

The Huskers extended the lead with a 44 yard touchdown pass from Armstrong to Alonzo Moore to grab a 21-0 edge.  Nebraska’s defense also played well during the first half.

Rutgers only points game after a long interception return set up the Scarlet Knights inside Nebraska’s ten yard line. The touchdown run by Robert Martin cut Nebraska’s lead to 21-7.

Tommy Armstrong threw another interception late in the second quarter, but Rutgers was unable to turn it into points.

Nebraska leads 21-7 at halftime.  Rutgers will receive the opening kickoff of the second half.
