Governor Pete Ricketts added Nebraska to the growing list of states that oppose the pending refugee influx from Syria after last week’s terror attacks in France. Nebraska U-S Senator Ben Sasse says Americans have reason to not trust the government’s vetting process.
Senator Sasse says, “President Obama yesterday said we have a strategy for ISIS. We have the right strategy. They also tell us they have a plan to vet the refugees. Obviously, the American story historically is about freedom. We believe in freedom and there all sorts of reasons, times and places why we want to be a big hearted, open armed people about refugees but the burden is on the administration to show they have a plan and I don’t think anybody really has a lot of confidence right now that they have much strategic thinking.”
Senator Sasse adds President Obama stated that we have the right strategy in place right now to fight ISIS and we need to stick to it. He says Congress has asked repeatedly to get more information on this strategy and the information they receive is not coherent.
Senator Sasse says there are two facts that cannot be ignored. Fact one is that there are jihadist’ that want to kill in the name of religion and clearly have global reach. Fact two is we do not have a strategy in place to combat it. He says we have had fourteen years of violent jihadi attacks and we have many European progressives, including in our administration that pretend the treat isn’t real. Senator Sasse says this isn’t just going to go away and the U-S needs to play a global leadership role in this fight.
