The outlaw hacker group Anonymous announced plans to unleash a cyber-attack on ISIS after the Paris attacks. Many are asking how this can disrupt ISIS. Thor Schrock is a technology expert in Omaha and says ISIS does not have an army of tanks and rocket launchers but they do have the internet.
Schrock says, “Their biggest weapon is their P-R game and Anonymous can go online and hack into some of the personal Twitter accounts of people who are putting out this P-R image to point out how this image doesn’t make sense. This is what they want to show you but behind the scenes, he is preaching all this Islamic purity and then he is going to strip clubs. That is where Anonymous could be dangerous to ISIS.”
Schrock says Anonymous could help expose what is truly an evil organization for what it is.
Anonymous has taken down thousands of Twitter accounts associated with ISIS. The group states this makes it harder for them to communicate to one another but it stops their goal of spreading fear and terror. They also use social media to advertise their actions and recruit new members.
