Nebraska built a 25-point lead in the second half over Delaware State, but the game was not well in hand until the final minutes of the game.
Delaware went on a 21 point run in the second half, cutting what had been a 25 point lead down to just four. Nebraska rallied though in the final minutes, with a 12 point run of their own to rebuild the lead. The Huskers won 75-60 over the Hornets to improve to 2-1 on the season.
“That’s what good about these games,” said Coach Tim Miles after the game. “This is probably better for us in the long run than if (the lead) stayed at 26. Now we had to feel a little edge. You can’t play not to lose.”
Shavon Shields led the way for Nebraska, scoring 21 points. Shields also played 36 minutes in the game. Andrew White III scored a season high 20 points for the Huskers.
Nebraska’s next game is on Sunday when they host Southeastern Louisiana at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
