Security will be increased for the Nebraska game against Iowa Friday.
It is a huge game as Iowa comes to Nebraska undefeated at 11-0, ranked third in the nation, to take on the Huskers, 5-6 on the year.
Expect Memorial Stadium to be packed.
“We hope there are 90,000 people and we hope they are all in red,” says Steve Smith, a spokesman for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Smith says fans should arrive early and travel light. It is fine to carry in blankets, but know that your coat will be inspected.
Gates open Friday at 1pm with kick-off set for 2:30pm.
Gates 6 and 8 will be closed. Gates 1, 17, 18, 19, 21 and 22 will close at kickoff.
“This is not related to any specific threat,” according to Smith. “People should rest assured there is no specific threat against Memorial Stadium or the game, but these are consistent with adjustments being made at other sites around the country following the recent international events, including the attacks in Paris.”
Officials are asking fans to adhere to the “If You See Something, Say Something” approach at Friday’s game. Reach Stadium Operations via text — text to 69050 and begin your message with “UNLPD.” Fans also can contact the nearest event staff member, security officer or police officer in the stadium, or call UNL Police at 402-472-2222.
