A 19-year-old Plattsmouth man has been killed in what police say was a drug deal gone bad.
Lincoln police report officers responding to a shooting at a house near a busy Lincoln intersection found Richard Randall, Jr. unresponsive just inside the door of the residence. He later was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second teen-ager, 18-year-old Angok Wal of Bellevue, was found inside with gunshot wounds to his buttocks.
Lincoln Police Chief Jim Peschong says three Lincoln residents have been arrested.
“The investigation found that gunshots were fired into the residence, striking these two individuals,” Peschong tells reporters at a news briefing. “The investigation also revealed that there had been a prior attempted robbery at this residence around midnight. However, that attempted robbery had not been reported to the police.”
Peschong says 21-year-old Brandon Benson has been charged with first-degree murder. 20-year-old Joseph Bratt has been charged with aiding and abetting first-degree murder and 21-year-old Joshua Lock has been arrested on suspicion of robbery.
Police believe Benson and Bratt went to the house at around midnight on Saturday, attempting to sell marijuana. The transaction never took place and it appears the two returned along with Lock around 3 o’clock Sunday morning to rob the residents.
“The investigation into this homicide is continuing and we do expect that there will be more arrests associated with what happened yesterday morning at this particular residence,” according to Peschong.
