It is a wintery Monday across Nebraska today. Many counties are in a winter storm warning until either 6 p.m. or midnight. Becky Kern is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Valley and says there is rainfall along the Kansas border but the further north you travel the more snowfall you will see. She says a lot depends on the temperatures. She says right now the temperature is at the freezing mark but if it warms up even a bit the snow that is falling now will switch over to rain.
Kern says in central and western Nebraska the snowfall is lighter but there is more wind and colder temperatures. Eastern Nebraska can expect up to three inches of snowfall throughout the day.
Kern says the good news after back-to-back winter weather events the forecast calms down a bit for the rest of the week. She says we can expect highs in the 30’s with lows in the teens.
