Hundreds of county government leaders from across Nebraska are in Kearney this week for the Nebraska Association of County Officials annual conference.
Larry Dix, the organization’s executive director, says there are several affiliated groups attending the meeting, in addition to county board members.
Dix says, “Each group will have a number of speakers and a number of state agencies that address them and give them an opportunity to bring them up to date on changes that are going on at the state level as it impacts county government.”
The conference is drawing nearly 800 county officials from 91 of Nebraska’s 93 counties. The three-day summit will be filled with round-table talks and educational workshops.
“There’s a tremendous amount of information,” Dix says. “We also will have discussion on the upcoming legislative session. We will also have the president of the National Association of Counties with us here this year.”
This is the Nebraska Association of County Officials’ 121st annual conference, running through Friday.
