One person has died after a small plane which took off from Omaha crashed a short time later near Interstate 29 north of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office reports the pilot and only occupant of the plane died in the wreck which occurred around the noon hour. The pilot apparently reported he experienced engine problems after the takeoff. The plane hit a power line on the way down.
Iowa Department of Transportation officials closed I-29 for a while.
The plane took off from Eppley Airfield in Omaha, just across the Missouri River from Council Bluffs.
