Launa Bacon, the state artist services manager, says the artwork was created by sculptor Daniel Goldstein of San Francisco.
“It has different colored light aluminum but it’s kind of in the shape of the Platte River,” Bacon says. “The colors reflect the colors that are in the Nebraska landscape and in particular, the sunset.”
The project is a partnership between UNK, the University of Nebraska Medical Center and the Nebraska Arts Council.
It’s funded by the “One Percent For Art” program that places art in Nebraska’s state buildings, colleges and in the University of Nebraska system.
