Nebraska’s Jessica Shepard swept the Big Ten Player and Freshman-of-the-Week awards on Monday after her record-setting performance in victory over Northern Arizona.
The Fremont, Nebraska, native erupted for a freshman-record 35 points in the Husker’s 90-67 win Saturday at Pinnacle Bank Arena. She added a career-high four steals while pulling down eight rebounds.
The only freshman on the Naismith Trophy Watch List, Shepard has won or shared four of the first six Big Ten Freshman-of-the-Week awards this season from the conference. Through 10 games, Shepard is averaging 19.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game for the 8-2 Huskers who return to action at home tonight against Arizona State.
