An investigation is underway after firefighters discovered human remains in a burnt out pickup in northeastern Nebraska.
The Nebraska State Patrol reports the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office received a call Monday afternoon about a vehicle on fire in a field nine miles west and a mile north of Pierce. Deputies came upon a pickup fully engulfed. Firefighters from the Pierce Volunteer Fire Department extinguished the fire and discovered human remains in the cab.
The Nebraska State Patrol and the State Fire Marshal’s Office were called in to investigate.
NSP Investigative Services Lt. Dan Wilson with Troop B in Norfolk says investigators will work to identify the remains and determine the cause of the fire.
