Nebraska lawmaker’s will likely vote on LB 619, a bill that would expand gambling in the state. State Senator Tyson Larson introduced the bill that would allow poker rooms in locations that already have a liquor license. Gambling with the Good Life Executive Director Pat Loontjer says they oppose this bill or any that would expand gambling in the state.
Loontjer says, “Enough is enough. We have gambling here. We have horse racing. We have keno. We have the lottery. We don’t believe that expanded gambling helps families or businesses.”
Loontjer says the bill was on yesterday’s agenda but lawmakers got hung-up on the rules and the discussion took about two-thirds of the day. She says this is a short session and there is a lot of ground to cover. Loontjer says, “I wish he (Senator Larson) would stop bringing up these gambling bills that take up so much time and usually go down in defeat.”
