An announcement by the FBI that there are terrorist cells in all 50 states has many Nebraskans worried about their safety. Governor Pete Ricketts is confident with the people in place protecting Nebraskans but there are issues he is concerned about on a national level.
Governor Ricketts says there are problems with the Syrian refugee program. He says states do not have a role in working with the volunteer agencies and the federal government when placing refugees. He believes that states need to be informed and involved.
Governor Ricketts says there are also issues with the visa waiver program that some senators are trying to correct. He says, “If we give waivers to people coming into the country that are not properly vetted, that leave us at risk.”
Governor Ricketts says these are issues that need to be addressed at the national level.
