Law enforcement in Lincoln are reporting another multi-million dollar drug bust.
The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office discovered 515 pounds of marijuana in the back of a pick-up truck valued at more than $2.5 million.
Chief Deputy Jeff Bliemeister says 68-year old Steven McElmury of Cedaredge, Colorado, is in custody on drug charges.
“It is disturbing that this quantity of high-grade marijuana is being transported across the country and then being resold in states where there is no legalization for recreational and/or medicinal use,” Bliemeister says.
Investigators are still trying to find out where the marijuana came from and where it was going.
Just days earlier, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office stopped an RV with 1,517 pounds of marijuana valued at $7.5 million.
“On pipelines where this is being distributed, which is mainly the interstate system,” Bliemeister says, “we believe that there are large quantities of marijuana traversing the interstate daily.”
A K-9 unit indicated the odor of drugs in the most recent stop, and officers found the pot in four moving boxes, four duffel bags and a large tote box.
