D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera’s two free throws with just over sid seconds remaining capped a furious rally as Georgetown edged Creighton 74-73 and handed the Blue Jays their first road loss in Big East play.
It was a game Creighton led 70-59 with two and a half minutes remaining before being outscored 15-3 to close the game.
“We did not execute very well late”, said Creighton coach Greg McDermott. “Asd their coach I have to find a way to bring them home in that situation and I did not do my job today”
It was a heartbreaking loss for the Blue Jays who drop to 5-3 in the league race and were knocked out of a second place tie. Creighton is 14-7 overall.
