The Enroll Nebraska Network reports, so far, more than 82,000 residents who don’t get healthcare coverage from their employer have signed up through the Affordable Care Act.
State Coordinator Eric Savaiano says that’s an increase of 8,000 over last year.
The Enroll Nebraska Network is offering help to the uninsured who need to sign up for healthcare coverage or for those who want to make a change in coverage.
“Either get help walking through the entire application and talks to folks about the different plan options and coverage options,” Savaiano says, “or doctors and prescription drugs that are available under each plan.”
This year’s enrollment deadline is 11:59 p.m. Sunday, January 31, which is earlier than the 2015 deadline.
“We would definitely encourage folks to try to start out on their own and go to healthcare.gov and try to fill out the application themselves,” he says. “Honestly, it’s a lot simpler this year, fewer steps. Lots of times, folks can get started with an application and have questions answered, as they come up, by phone.”
The enrollnebraska.org website has a list of assistance sites across the state.
