An officer involved shooting death is underway in Omaha. Just before 5 p.m. on Thursday, Omaha police officers responded to call regarding a disturbance over a stolen vehicle on the city’s northeast side. Officers found the vehicle at 3700 South 68th Plaza at the Grover Square apartment complex.
Police say the suspect barricaded himself in one of the units. At one point shots were fired and an officer returned fire hitting 33 year old William Adams. He was transported to a hospital where he later died.
The standoff lasted about two hours. The incident is being investigated by the Omaha Police Department’s Officer Involved Investigations squad. The officer is on paid administrative leave pending the criminal investigation and the Internal Affairs investigation.
