Omaha Public Power District reports there are nearly 20,000 customers without service due to the snowstorm. Spokesperson Paula Lewkowski says one of the biggest problems now is the wind.
Lewkowski says, “We are making some restorations but we continue to get calls as we get some restored. We continue to get repeated outages because some of the lines are galloping.” That is caused by strong wind.
Lewkowski says there are no safety incidents to report other than trucks getting stuck in the snow. The good news is they are not seeing a lot of damage. They are not estimating restoration times until the winds die down and crews will continue to work through the day and night to get the power back on.
Nebraska Public Power District reports that there are 12 customers in Kearney and 467 in Lexington that are without service. That is down from several thousand earlier today.
