Toxicology reports could be available next week regarding the death of an inmate being held at the Douglas County Corrections Department.
59 year old Mark L’Heureux collapsed inside the jail on Tuesday. He was rushed to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities say there were no known signs of physical trauma to L’Heureux.
L’Heureux was being held on a $1.5-million dollar bond after an incident on January 23rd at 83rd and Keystone Drive in Omaha. He held law enforcement at bay in a 26 hour standoff. Law enforcement used a robot, cut utilities, blew holes in the house and firefighters poured gallons of water inside in an attempt to get him to surrender. Investigators say L’Heureux fired several shots at law enforcement and shot and killed Omaha K-9 Officer Kobus.
L’Heureux was also ordered by a judge to the Lincoln Regional Center for a mental evaluation.
