It is the day that many people wait all year for. Theresa Cassady is the communications officer for Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska and says door-to-door cookie sales officially start in some parts of the state today and girls will be setting up booths statewide on February 12th outside retailers and at special events.
Cassady says it is amazing what one box of cookies can do. She says, “These girls are running their own little cookie business and whole time they are developing key-life skills. They make decisions. They make goals. They manage money. They provide people good customer service and they also learn about business ethics which is very important they are instilled with these values at a young age.”
All of the net proceeds stay in Nebraska. Troops use that money to fund activities and to reinvest in their neighborhoods through community service projects.
The cookie line-up this year includes: Thin Mints, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties, Shortbread, Peanut Butter sandwich, Thanks-a-Lot, Cranberry Citrus Crisps and Lemonades. Cookies are $4 a box. They also offer gluten-free Trios that are $5 a package. To order cookies online, log on to GirlScoutsNebraska.org.
