The Nebraska baseball team opens the season Friday afternoon with the first of a three game series against the College of Charleston. The Huskers take on a Cougar squad that finished 45-15 a year ago and lost to Florida State in the Tallahassee Regional final.
Darin Erstad begins his fifth season as the Husker coach.
“It is always special to get started”, said Erstad. “The guys are sick and tired of looking at each other and sick and tired of being inside. They are ready to compete.”
Nebraska finished 34-23 last season and will play its first nine games on the road.
“I don’t have control over when we start so all that takes care of itself”, said Erstad. “It is about handling the speed of the game, swinging at strikes, taking care of the baseball and throwing strikes. If we do that will be just fine.”
Nebraska’s home opener is March 8 against Northern Colorado.
