Concordia women’s basketball coach Drew Olson did not need to dig through his film vault to show his team what went wrong on their last trip to Briar Cliff. Just three days ago the Bulldogs traveled to Sioux City and lost to the Chargers 75-55 to close out the regular season.
They hope to turn the tables during a return trip on Wednesday night in the opening round of the Great Plains Conference Tournament.
“There is a little bit of a chess match involved”, said Olson. “You know what they just did and so maybe we can adjust and do some things differently to hopefully make the outcome better.”
Changing the outcome begins with taking care of the ball. The Bulldogs committed 24 turnovers in Saturday’s loss and Olson says they need to do a better job against Briar Cliff’s pressure defense.
“Not being tentative and if you feel there is a gap attack it with the dribble. We have got to be a lot more aggressive against their pressure.”
The winner advances to the GPAC semifinals to take on the winner of the game between top seeded Morningside and eighth seeded College of Saint Mary.
