The Nebraska women’s basketball team closed out the regular season with a 76-67 win over Northwestern.
With Rachel Theriot ruled out for the remainder of the season due to injury Natalie Romeo moved to point guard and responded with 12 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. The Huskers also got a big lift from freshman Maddie Simon who notched a career-high 16 points and seven rebounds.
“There is nobody on our team that has been in the gym more this year at non-required times than Maddie Simon”, said Nebraska coach Connie Yori. “Any time you see somebody work really hard it is awesome to see that pay off for them.”
Allie Havers had 13 points and 10 rebounds as the Huskers improve to 9-9 in the Big Ten and 18-11 overall.
Nebraska is the seventh seed in the Big Ten Tournament and will play Rutgers on Thursday night.
