A pedestrian who stepped in front of a pick-up in downtown Lincoln, was hit and dragged several feet, has died of the injuries he sustained in the accident.
Lincoln police report 47-year-old Zed Whitney, a transient, died at Bryan West Campus hospital after undergoing surgery in an effort to save his life.
According to police, Whitney stepped into a crosswalk in the path of the truck, which had a green light. The accident occurred Wednesday afternoon. Witnesses told police it appeared Whitney knew the truck had a green light.
There are no plans to issue a citation against the driver of the pick-up.
