Nebraska first baseman Scott Schreiber garnered Big Ten Player of the Week and earned a spot on Collegiate Baseball’s National Players of the Week list when both honors were announced on Monday.
Schreiber, a sophomore from Menasha, Wis., went 8-for-14 with four home runs, two doubles, 11 RBIs and six runs scored to help the Huskers sweep Northern Colorado and Loyola Marymount last week.
He homered in consecutive at bats against Northern Colorado on Tuesday, added one on Wednesday and his fourth came in Sunday’s series finale against Loyola Marymount. Schreiber missed NU’s doubleheader on Friday after being hit in the elbow during Wednesday’s game against Northern Colorado.
His four home runs last week were more than the three he had all last year in 40 games. In addition, Schreiber doubled in a pair of runs in Saturday’s 3-0 shutout win.
