An Omaha special needs student expelled from school in February will return to a different school on Monday. Latisha Jordan is the mother of the boy and says he was expelled for bringing an airsoft handgun on the school bus. He apparently didn’t want it anymore and was going to give it to a friend.
Jordan says, “I feel like they should have disciplined him and he shouldn’t of taken it on the school bus but expulsion was excessive. He was very afraid and really had no idea what he had done wrong. He was under the impression that they thought he was trying to hurt someone.”
The unloaded gun was found in the other student’s locker. Jordan appealed the district’s decision and won. Jordan moved her son to a different school and he will start class again on Monday.
