A hearing is scheduled for this afternoon involving a serial murder case in Omaha.
Anthony Garcia is accused of killing four people in Omaha, all with ties to his former employer, Creighton University.
Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine filed a motion for Garcia’s Chicago-based defense team to be taken off the case due to public comments made about the case.
Garcia’s local attorney, Dan Stockmann filed a motion soon afterwards to withdraw from the case. State law requires an attorney with a Nebraska law license to assist out-of-state lawyers representing in-state clients. Garcia’s attorney, Allison Motta allegedly told media that an arrest in another murder will exonerate her client. Stockman is citing ethical breaches committed by Motta for his reason for withdrawal.
