Nebraskans who requested an early voting ballot should receive theirs soon.
The mailing of the ballots begins this week, which is 35 days before the Primary Election.
Between now and then, Secretary of State John Gale says thousands of ballots will be sent out.
“Twenty-three percent, twenty-five percent of our citizens do want to vote early, either by mail or in person,” Gale tells Nebraska Radio Network. “We encourage them, if they haven’t made a request for an early ballot, to get that done.”
The application is on the secretary of state’s website under the Elections tab.
“It’s not something you can do by phone call or do by email. It requires a form that can be signed and mailed in. They can do that up until May 4th and still get a ballot,” Gale says.
Those need to be returned by the close of polls on Election Day, May 10th.
Early voting in person at county election offices begins next week.
