The Omaha Storm Chasers have won three Pacific Coast League championships since 2011. When they open the new season Thursday night against New Orleans they will do so as an affiliate of the reigning World Series champions.
“There are benefits from a merchandise perspective and marketing as well the opportunity to talk about the number of players who have gone on from Omaha to Kansas City”, said Storm Chasers President and General Manager Martie Cordaro. “There is a great connection and great relationship and we are very optimistic that we are going to see a bump in attendance here in Omaha due to the fact that we are partnered with the World Series champs.”
Cordaro says Omaha has benefited as Kansas City constructed a championship team via the draft and he is confident the Royals will be providing another solid club.
“Brian Poldberg, our manager, is going to have a hard time filling his lineup card out ever night. We are going to have a lot of professional hitters, even some with major league time and there is going to be someone that can produce at every position.”
First pitch at Werner Park on Thursday night is 7:05 p.m.
