Nebraska lawmakers are waiting for final round debate on a bill that would return Nebraska to a winner take all state for Electoral College votes.
It is Elkhorn State Senator Beau McCoy’s bill and he says Nebraska votes do count and when you have the Congressional District Method in place, candidates stop in Omaha for a quick rally and ignore the rest of the state.
Senator McCoy says, “I think this primary season, especially in the Republican Party but also the Democratic Party shows that every state counts. Every delegate counts. Every electoral vote counts. I could easily see a General Election that is just that close and if that is the case then all Nebraska votes count all across the state and candidates should campaign across the state to earn the votes of Nebraskans.”
If the bill makes it through the 3rd round of debate and is signed by Governor Ricketts, this would be in effect for the November General Election.
