Several redshirt freshmen are competing for playing on the Nebraska defense during spring drills, including a pair recruited out of Colorado. Eric Lee is at corner and Avery Anderson is at safety and both took part in spring drills a year ago after graduating early.
Anderson says the time spent together is paying off.
“We have that natural chemistry”, said Anderson. “We have both been going with the twos together and sometimes we just look at each other and make the call without even speaking. We have great chemistry.”
Lee says they used their redshirt year to gain confidence.
“The biggest thing last year was we were just trying to stay afloat and hang with the older guys”, said Lee. “This year we are trying to make a name for ourselves.”
The Huskers’ Red-White spring game is April 16.
