A Former Husker has been named the new women’s basketball coach at Nebraska.
Amy Williams has spent the past four seasons at South Dakota and led the Coyotes to the WNIT championship last month. She also helped guide the program to a pair of Summit League regular season championships and one Summit League tournament title.
The native of Spearfish, South Dakota played at Nebraska from 1994-1998 and prior to taking over at South Dakota was the head coach at Rogers State University.
“What an honor to return home as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at the University of Nebraska. My family and I are thrilled to be joining this outstanding University and the Lincoln community. I am grateful to President Hank Bounds, Chancellor Harvey Perlman and Shawn Eichorst for their confidence in me and I am eager to continue to build on the rich tradition of my alma mater.”
Williams will be formally introduced at a news conference on Tuesday.
