An afternoon shooting in southern Lincoln left one person dead, one wounded.
Lincoln Police Captain Bob Farber says officers responded to an emergency call at a home Monday afternoon.
“When officers arrived, we found one victim inside the residence that is deceased, victim of a gunshot wound,” Farber tells Nebraska Radio Network affiliate KLIN. “We also had another party inside that sustained some injuries; has been transported to a local hospital, receiving treatment.”
There were children in the house at the time of the shooting. None were harmed. They have been removed from the home and taken to safety.
The shooting occurred near an elementary school.
Officials at Prescott Elementary went into lock down until police determined it was safe to let children go home with their parents.
Police are looking for at least one suspect.
