Friday is an important deadline for voter registration in Nebraska. If you want to register or update your registration online, then April 22 is your last chance before the May 10 Primary.
The secretary of state’s office reports that is also the last day to submit or update at a Department of Motor Vehicles office, certain state agencies or by mail. If you are submitting forms by mail, be sure the postmark is April 22 or earlier.
“Just because you put the form in your hometown mailbox day of, doesn’t mean that it will be postmarked on that day,” Secretary of State John Gale stated in a news release. “For example, in Lincoln mail travels to Omaha to be stamped and sorted before it’s distributed. So, it’s possible that the postmark won’t be added until the following day.”
You can still register in person at any county election office until May 2 at 6 p.m.
