A motorcyclist has been killed, his passenger injured, in a fiery crash in Omaha after a pick-up failed to stop at an intersection, hit the bike, causing it to slam into a parked pick-up.
Both the motorcycle and the pick-up caught fire.
Dead is 48-year-old Daniel McDonald of Omaha. His passenger, 49-year-old Patricia McDonald, suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries and is being treated at Nebraska Medicine.
The driver of the pick-up, 34-year-old Joseph Madej of Omaha, has been charged with motor vehicle homicide.
The Omaha Police Department reports the accident occurred shortly before 7pm Monday at 4100 Madison Street. The motorcycle was northbound on 41st Street. The pick-up was westbound on Madison when it failed to stop at the intersection, hitting the bike. The impact of the crash drove the bike into the parked pick-up which was unoccupied. The two caught fire.
