Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department made a significant drug bust Wednesday. A deputy stopped a vehicle on I-80 near 60th Street in Omaha for speeding around 7 p.m. During the traffic stop the deputy became suspicious of illegal activity and a police dog was used to walk around the vehicle.
The K-9 then indicated a scent of narcotics. In the back of the vehicle, deputies saw three large rubber totes. Inside they found 211 pounds of marijuana packaged in bricks.
The driver, 26 year old Rupert Prout of Las Vegas and a passenger, Luis Casillas of Las Cruces, New Mexico were on their way to Minnesota. Both were booked for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and having no tax stamp.
