As Donald Trump prepares to hold a rally in Omaha this afternoon a county G-O-P official is asking for unity. Senator Ben Sasse again voiced criticism regarding Trump on a Facebook post this week and called for a third party candidate to step forward.
Douglas County Republican Party Chairman Jon Tucker says, “Senator Sasse is a great conservative senator. He has done a great job in the Senate with his votes. He is one of the top conservatives in the Senate. I like what he does in the Senate. I don’t necessarily agree with the anti-Trump sentiment. I would like to see him stick with the Senate side and let the president go on to be the president.”
Tucker adds a third party candidate would not be constructive for the party. He says there are already people looking ahead four years and at the possibility of a presidential run then.
Tucker is one of many planning on attending Trump’s rally this afternoon. He expects to hear relief in Trump’s voice and there will be much less campaigning and more of moving the country forward. He anticipates seeing and hearing a different Donald Trump.
The rally starts at 4 p.m. at the Werner Enterprises hangar on the east side of Eppley Airfield in Omaha.
